I always suggest starting small. When I began, I didn’t rush in or try to do everything at once. It was important to me that my time with the Lord wasn't just another task on my to-do list, but something I actually looked forward to. If I had forced it, it would have felt like a chore and I would’ve eventually quit.

I started out led by genuine curiosity, wanting to understand the character of God and the heart of Jesus before I ever called myself a 'Christian.' I had to know I was not just being honest with myself but honest with God in taking on that title, and not simply slapping a label on myself to feel like I “belonged”.

If you’re in a busy season, here are a few gentle ways to begin:

• The Five-Minute Rule: Don't feel pressured to sit for an hour. Start with five minutes of 'stillness'—one verse from a Hope Jar and a quick prayer.

• Create a Sacred Corner: Dedicate a specific spot in your home (even just a favorite chair) with your Holy Hues and Bible. When you sit there, your mind knows it’s time to exhale.

• Listen While You Move: If you can't sit still, try a lofi worship playlist or an audio Bible while you get ready. Let the Word breathe into your morning routine.

No matter how you start, I recommend starting during a time of peace and quiet. If you’re a mom like me, that might be at night after you’ve got the kids in bed, or early in the morning before you start your day, or even just 5 min of your lunch break alone in your car.

Remember, it’s about connection, not perfection. Just show up with an open heart, and let the rest happen at your own pace. God knows your heart and His invitation is always to come as you are. So don't let the pressure of 'getting it right' get in your way. For one, there’s no such thing and two, He’s understanding and loves you unconditionally. 💙
